Hyatt Regency Waikiki

Occupying 1 1/2 blocks across the street from Waikiki Beach, this two-tower resort and convention hotel includes a shopping mall with three floors of shops and restaurants. This ocean-view hotel includes a 10,000-square-foot health spa, four restaurants, sunning terrace with pool and two spa tubs, and garden atrium with three-story waterfall.

A lively urban resort with three levels of shops, restaurants, and interior gardens, the Hyatt Regency is an international destination. Quiet reigns above the public spaces, as guests ascend to their rooms in two 40-story towers, Ewa and Diamond Head. The Waikiki district is within walking distance, including fabulous shopping. Tranquil Kapiolani Park, which includes the Honolulu Zoo and the Waikiki Aquarium, is a 10-minute walk away.

Across the street, famous Waikiki Beach and its many activities beckon. Hyatt Regency guests are also drawn to the resort's third-level terrace, which spans nearly an entire block and overlooks the beach. On one end of the terrace is a good-sized pool surrounded by padded lounge chairs and shade umbrellas. (An attendant periodically passes out chilled towels.) In the terrace's center, the Elegant Dive serves tropical drinks between two elevated hot tubs that remain open late at night for convivial soaking beneath tiki-torch flames. In front of the bar, wooden rocking chairs overlook the pulsating action on Waikiki's main street, Kalakaua Avenue.

Guests ascending to the second-floor lobby are greeted by a parrot, who says "hello" and "aloha" and then "bye-bye" when they leave. By then, guests have glimpsed the resort's enormous, lush garden atrium and heard its three-story waterfall. The resort's first three floors comprise a shopping/dining mall. On the fifth and sixth floors, Na Hoola Spa provides pampering in a 10,000-square-foot space. There's also a small fitness room and a relaxation room overlooking the ocean. Services and facilities abound, including a small business center offering high-speed Internet connections, fax and copy machines, and a doctor's office. Wireless Internet access is available in the three lobbies. Camp Hyatt offers children's activities.

This resort provides 1,230 air-conditioned rooms, each 425 square feet, with island-style furnishings and textured wallpaper. Furnished balconies offer views of mountains, ocean, or the Waikiki district.

Ciao Mein - Located on the third floor of the Ewa Tower, Ciao Mein combines Italian and Chinese cuisines and serves everything family-style so diners can sample freely.
