Called the "First Lady of Waikiki," the stunningly elegant whitewashed Victorian  Moana Surfrider is a Registered National Landmark and won a presidential award for excellence following extensive renovation. Known for its grand entrance, palladian windows and famous seaside Banyan Court, the Sheraton Moana Surfrider's location on Waikiki Beach is considered to be the best. Entering the hotel between the columns of an elegant porte cochere flanked by stately palm trees, guests step back into an era of true leisure. Painted the palest shades of gray and white, the wooden Banyan Wing contains the hotel lobby, which is cooled by trade winds gently propelling guests toward the historic Moana Banyan tree shading the beachfront courtyard. From this spot, the beloved Hawaii Calls radio show brought the world's attention to Hawaiian music. Historical artifacts are displayed throughout the hotel, and framed million-stitch Hawaiian floral quilts brighten the lobby.

Each of the 791 air-conditioned rooms, located in four wings, provides Hawaiian floral quilts patterned after historical designs, recalling the hotel's place in Hawaiian history. Highlights include traditional high tea served daily on the Banyan Veranda, tours of the hotel by a resident historian, and periodic musical entertainment on the veranda and in the courtyard.

As you might expect, all guest accommodations at The Moana Surfrider are elegant, undeniably Hawaiian, and exceedingly comfortable. Many rooms offer ocean views, and rooms in the historic Banyan Wing feature antique furnishings in oak, mahogany, and rare koa woods. The beach itself offers limitless water sports and recreational activities, and many of Oahu’s most popular destinations are within walking distance of the hotel.

Clustered within two blocks of one another, Waikiki's four Starwood hotels offer the convenience of "Stay at One, Play at All" hospitality. Guests at any of these four hotels can enjoy dining, entertainment, and facilities (except pools) at the other hotels; these incidentals can be charged to guestrooms. For example, the Sheraton Waikiki offers daily activities for children ages 5 to 12, with morning, afternoon, and evening sessions, as well as lunch and dinner options. The Royal Hawaiian's Abhasa Waikiki Spa, the Sheraton Waikiki's fitness center, and the Princess Kaiulani Hotel's Japanese restaurant Momoyama are all available to Moana Surfrider guests.

Harking back to the days of the Hawaii Calls radio program, which was broadcast from the hotel for 40 years, the hotel hosts a concert in the open-air Banyan Court every second Thursday of each month. Featured artists include Holunape, Pali, Makana, Marlene Sai—one of Hawaii’s most well-known entertainers, and Raiatea Helm—the 18-year-old singing sensation. There is no admission charge; appetizers and cocktails will be available for purchase. Or, reservations can be made for a sunset dinner on the Banyan Veranda overlooking the courtyard. Banyan Veranda - In addition to its famed afternoon high tea, the spacious veranda with its oversized, cushioned rattan chairs is the site of a sumptuous sunset buffet and Sunday brunch.

Banyan Grill and Beach Bar - Shaded by the Moana Banyan tree (planted in 1904), this beachfront spot offers grilled specialties and tropical drinks.

Beachside Café - Sunny tables provide perfect observation posts for watching the surfing action offshore while sampling buffet or à la carte fare

Many recreational activities are available in the area surrounding the hotel. Surfboards, boogie boards, kayaks, ocean rafts, snorkel sets, and umbrella and beach chair sets can be rented on Waikiki Beach. Outrigger canoes and catamarans offer rides from the beach.
