Whalers Cove Poipu Resort

The Whalers Cove is located at sunny Poipu on one of Kauai's most beautiful coves overlooking the sparkling waters of the Pacific. Just 16 miles from Lihue Airport. You'll feel at home in the tastefully appointed one- and two-bedroom units. Guests can wander through an orchid garden to their ocean-view condos. Details such as koa wood doors and an infinity-edge pool set Whalers Cove apart from other resorts. Guests are mostly vacationing couples who appreciate the resort's seclusion and proximity to golf courses and sunny beaches.

All accommodations offer ocean views. Guests also enjoy views from the oceanside, infinity-edge pool and adjacent spa tub. A barbeque area with gas grills also faces the ocean. On the east side of the resort, a stairway leads to a safe snorkeling cove full of marine life. Amenities here include complimentary newspapers and beach towels, daily housekeeping, free parking, free local calls, and concierge and business services.

Just above the ocean, guests relax on a curved, slate-tiled deck bordering a freeform infinity pool. A spa tub and outdoor lava rock are nearby. On the east side of the resort, a stairway leads down to a little snorkeling cove frequented by sea turtles. The resort features three barbecue areas, business and concierge services, complimentary use of a computer with high-speed Internet access, and complimentary weekday newspapers. Parking is also complimentary. Extra beach towels and other beach equipment are available in the lobby.

A cove on the east side of this condo resort is frequented by green turtles and therefore popular with snorkelers. The resort has a freeform infinity pool overlooking the ocean, a hot tub, and three barbecue areas. In the lobby, concierge staff assist with beach towels and equipment as well as activity arrangements such as helicopter tours and boat excursions along the Na Pali Coast.

Poipu’s sunny beaches are one mile away. Two golf courses are two miles away, as is a public park with two lighted tennis courts and a basketball court. Kiahuna Tennis Club is one mile away. The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

The Prince Course, the number one rated golf course in Hawaii by Golf Digest, Is golf as it was meant to be played. The Prince course is Robert Trent Jones, Jr.'s masterpiece. Looking as if it has emerged full-blown from nature, it chugs uphill, jumps ravines, and careens downhill. Not surprisingly, it has recently been called "the Pine Valley of the Pacific."

Poipu Bay Resort Course

Ranked number six in Golf Digest's top ten courses in Hawaii, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed the Poipu Bay Resort Course. This 210-acre course built on ancient archeological sites combines lush green fairways, 86 bunkers, and eleven water holes to create both a challenge and a breathtaking beauty.

Poipu Bay features a spectacular 18-hole championship course on 210 oceanfront acres on Kauai's southern coast. Since 1994, the Poipu Bay Resort Golf Course has been the home of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf; an event claimed to be the world's most exclusive golf tournament.
 

Kauai Lagoons' Kiele Course

Kauai Lagoon's Mokihana Course

The Mokihana Course is the second Jack Nicklaus course at Kauai Lagoons. The courses is a 6,900 yard par 72 resort layout crafted with Scottish style rolling links. Previously the Lagoons Course, the layout underwent a soft renovation in its landscaping and was renamed in 1999 to pay tribute to its Hawaiian heritage. Designed for players of all skill levels, the course is marked by its open fairways and, compared with its more demanding sister course, by its relative lack of forced carries. The real challenge of the Mokihana are its undulating greens, which will challenge the best of putters. The Mokihana has been rated by Golf Magazine as one of the ten most playable in America, and proffers outstanding views of Mt. Waialeale, the extinct volcano that created the island of Kauai. Its more hospitable nature is a perfect complement to the more challenging Kiele.

Princeville Resort Makai Course

Listed in the top 50 resort courses and the top 100 courses in America, this course is a special treat for golfers. The course is made up of three unique nine holes of golf. The Ocean Nine runs right along the ocean, while the Lakes Nine meanders around a beautiful lake, and the Woods Nine finds its way through the resort's native woodlands.

Golf Digest lists the Princeville Makai Course in its Top 50 Resort Courses, and has included it in "America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses" for 16 consecutive years. The Makai is really three courses in one: the Ocean Nine - venturing closest to the Pacific, the Lakes Nine - winding its way around serene lakes and the Woods Nine - diverting its way through native woodlands.

Kiahuna Golf Club

Puakea Golf Course

18 Holes; Par 72, 6954 yards. All prices per person including golf cart rental.

Imagine yourself walking up to the first tee with a Pacific Ocean view in front of you and Mount Haupu towering over you. The Robin Nelson designed course plays around deep ravines and streams fed by fresh mountain rain water.

Beginning your golf journey on the first tee, a par-5 that promotes strategy, you'll find the tranquility of the golf course wrapping its way around your swing. Moving through to the fourth hole, you'll experience views of the lush Hao and Ironwood trees. The spectacular eighth hole will take your breath away with snapshots of a small pond below the tee and the rolling green lying beyond. With the inspirational terrain and calming mountain range backdrop, you'll find Puakea Golf Course to play differently under a variety of weather conditions of wind and water. On July 1, 2003 Puakea's dream was complete. The course opened the final 8 holes of this wonderful golf course.
